How to ask for anything and get your needs met

When I behaved in the way that I now regret, what need of mine was I trying to meet?

I ask all my guests for the books that have changed their thinking. Today I want to share from my own space, a book that have transformed my relationship to the world. Non Violent Communication by Marshall B. Rosenberg. I got the book recommended to me by Erik Bergman and he said something like ”if everyone read this book there wouldn’t be any problems in the world”. And I TOTALLY agree. For real.

NVC has really helped me create an understanding of how words contribute to connection or disconnection in the relationship to others. The most mindblowing experience has been to notice my own reactions in situations of disagreement and to create an awareness of how I can look for the feelings & needs behind every statement that I am exposed to in the communication to another human being. And in the relationship to my own behavior and reactions.

  • What is it that this person needs when he/she is expressing his frustration towards me?

  • When I behaved in the way that I now regret, what need of mine was I trying to meet?

Have you read Non Violent Communication and how did it affect your life?
